Terry Rogers 21/06/1935 - 25/02/2023

Obituary by Rick Purnell Press Officer and friend........

Terry was away one of our long standing members – Terry Rogers died on Saturday 25th February after a short illness in Torbay Hospital (pneumonia complicated by another lung condition). Born in 1935 Terry was 88 years old.

Terry joined our club having chosen Teignmouth on retirement over 22 years back in February 2001. Terry was active in our club, being Club Chairman in 2006, Speaker Finder from 2009-2012 and Deputy Secretary during my tenure of that office.

Like many of us, Terry had a variety of interests including Wine, Caravanning and Gardening. In the latter part of his career Terry was a Materials Engineer specialising in polymers and plastics for the motor industry, Luton based.

Our Almoner David Head arranged for members to add their condolences to our Probus card at our 1st March meeting which Rick Purnell delivered in person to Doreen and family.

The celebration of Terry’s life was held on Thursday 23rd March at Torquay Crematorium 2:00 pm. It was conducted as a humanist style celebration of his life with musical slide show, poems and dedications by his son Peter, myself and Ann Donovan of the former Teignbridge Wine Society. There was a good representation from Probus and former Wine Society members. If any members wish to support his memorial, donations can be made to the 'Asthma + Lung UK' and sent to the undertakers:-

Oliver J. Knapman Funeral Service, 22 Brunswick Street, Teignmouth TQ14 8AF - Telephone 01626 772080

Farewell good friend, RIP Terry.
