Derrick Awcock 11/01/1935 - 08/10/2023

Our Press Officer, Rick Purnell attended Derrick's service on Monday 30th October at St Paul's Chapel Exeter & Devon Crematorium.

Derrick Robert William Awcock was born 11/01/1935 Died 08/10/2023 (aged 88)

Derrick joined Teignmouth Probus Club in September 1998 having retired from Civil Service (Inland Revenue) to Teignmouth from Market Drayton in Shropshire to be nearer family. 

He was a Past Secretary 1999 - 2003 & Past Treasurer 2008-2012 and introduced to bowling as a novice member of Teignmouth Probus Club Bowling Team.  With Marina Bowling Club he served as Match Secretary & Mens Captain.

His passions were Canaling, DIY, Lawn Bowls (Outdoor & Indoor).

Pre Covid, he moved to Bishopsteignton where he transferred to Bishop's Probus Club but early 2021, moved back to Teignmouth with several attendances with us as a visitor, intending to rejoin us but recent ill health prevented this happening.

He was a mover and shaker for the restoration of the Montgomery Canal Project for the Shropshire Union Canal Society and a Derrick gave us several talks on his canaling adventures.
